The Advocate's Bridge

A six-month practical training programme for new advocates

What this actually is

Law school prepares you to pass exams. It does not prepare you to walk into a courtroom, sit across a distressed client, or draft a plaint against the clock. Most new advocates learn this in their first year or two, often at a client's expense. The Advocate's Bridge is a structured, mentor-led alternative: six months, in cohorts of four to six, moving through three phases.

The three phases

Foundations
Court systems and procedure. Drafting fundamentals: plaints, written statements, affidavits, petitions. Client intake and interviewing. Legal research. Courtroom etiquette.
Applied practice
Shadowing live matters at Ashri Associates. Mock client consultations with direct feedback. Observing negotiation and mediation. Drafting under real deadline pressure.
Independent simulation
Mock trials and moot-style simulations. A specialisation track in family and matrimonial law or in documentation. A capstone case-strategy project.

Who it is for

Fresh LLB graduates. Advocates in their first year of independent practice. Law graduates who have interned but never carried a matter end to end.

What you leave with

Standout trainees receive a letter of recommendation and referral within my professional network.

Dates

Dates for the next cohort are announced here and on LinkedIn. Cohorts are capped at six to keep the mentorship real.

The programme is led by me.
